Houston (CBS Houston) – The Dynamo are undefeated in six matches at home in the 2017 season, Friday they host Vancouver looking to make it seven.
With a 5-0-1 home record so far on the season, the Dynamo have 16 points overall on the season which puts them in fourth place in the Western Conference table.
Last week’s home effort was a convincing 4-0 victory over Orlando City SC that saw Mauro Manotas score two goals and Alberth Elis and Romell Quioto each chipping in one.
With 19 goals on the season, the Dynamo are tied for second in the league for the most goals scored this season.
The Dynamo scored four goals without Erick Torres, their leader and the MLS leader, with seven goals on the season.
Torres is probable for Friday’s match as he comes off a concussion, while Eric Alexander will miss 2-3 months with a right knee injury.
Joe Willis, and the defensive improvement, has been a force for the Dynamo as of late. Willis has started the last four matches for the Dynamo and has two shutouts.
While the Dynamo have been good at home, Vancouver has had good recent form on the road. Last week Vancouver won at Colorado, 1-0 after a Brek Shea goal in the 84th minute, which gave the Whitecaps their second straight road win.
The Caps will be closing out a stretch with four straight matches on the road, which has pushed their record on the road to 2-3.
Overall on the season, Vancouver is 4-4-1, 13 points and sixth place in the Western Conference.
Vancouver is lead in goals by Fredy Montero with four. Montero is in his first season in the MLS since leaving Seattle in 2012.
