HOUSTON (CBS HOUSTON) – Houston will host one of the four regional sites of the 2020 NCAA men’s basketball tournament as tournament sites through 2022 were announced Tuesday afternoon.
The University of Houston will serve as the host institution and the games will be played at Toyota Center. This marks the first time Toyota Center has hosted any round of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament. Houston hosted the men’s Final Four in 2016 and 2011 at NRG Stadium and a regional at the same location in 2015, 2010 and 2008.
Houston has hosted tournament games in additional venues as well. The Astrodome hosted the Final Four in 1971, a regional in 1973. The Summit hosted regionals in 1980 and 1986.
The other regionals selected for 2020 are Los Angeles (Staples Center), New York City (Madison Square Garden), and Indianapolis (Lucas Oil Stadium). The Final Four for 2020 will be played in Atlanta at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
