Astros shortstop Carlos Correa was out of the team’s lineup for the second consecutive game Tuesday after sustaining a right hand contusion Saturday in Oakland.

Correa was hit by a mid 90’s fastball from A’s reliever Frankie Montas. However the X-rays were negative and when the teams were rained out Sunday in Oakland, Correa hoped to be available Monday and not miss any playing time.

Alex Bregman has started both games at short against the Los Angeles Angels in Correa’s absence.

The Astros were so short handed after Correa’s injury Saturday, pitcher Mike Fiers was used to pinch run, manager A.J. Hinch had Luke Gregerson batting in the clean-up position and outfielder Josh Reddick played first base in the ninth inning.
