Hopkins Thinks Watson Would Like To Be His Quarterback

By: Alex Del Barrio

HOUSTON (CBS HOUSTON) – DeAndre Hopkins admitted on Monday that he pays very little attention to the draft process going as far to say that it was advice longtime Texans wideout Andre Johnson gave him

“I asked Andre (Johnson) awhile back if he follow the draft and he said no so I don’t follow the draft either,”

He may pay attention to the destination of Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson. The national championship winning quarterback is reportedly scheduled to meet with the Texans on Tuesday as one Houston 30 pre-draft visits with prospects.

“I’m a little biased, “(The Texans) know who we need more so than my biased opinion would say who I want, but wherever (Watson) goes I am sure he’ll do fine.”

Hopkins did praise the signal caller’s ability and said that he felt Watson was snubbed out of the Heisman trophy saying ,”In my eyes (Watson) is a Heisman quarterback.”

Hopkins said he hasn’t spoken to Watson but acknowledged that they have some mutual friends as Hopkins has family that plays for Clemson that have shared the message that a Clemson connection would be favorable to Watson.

“I am pretty sure (Watson) would like to throw me the football,” Hopkins said.
