Houston (CBS Houston) – The Dynamo take the second best record in the Western Conference to the northeast to face New England in search of their first road win.
After four matches the Dynamo have the second most points in the Western Conference table with nine, trailing Portland by just one point for the top spot in the West.
Erick Torres, the MLS leader in goals with six, had a hat trick in the Dynamo 4-1 win over the New York Red Bulls the last time they were on the pitch.
The first month of the season has seen the Dynamo enjoy most of their games at home. All three wins have come when playing at the confines of BBVA Compass Stadium, and their only loss was on the road against Portland.
Injuries have already reared their faces for the club as they will be without several regulars in Saturday’s match. Leonardo has already been ruled out with a hamstring issue, while Romell Quioto is expected to miss his second straight game with a shoulder dislocation and Juan David Cabezas is questionable as he recovers from a concussion.
Dynamo head coach, Wilmer Cabrera, will have an interesting decision on who starts on the wings, flanking Torres. Alberth Elis should be back to full conditioning leaving Cabrera to decide between Ellis, Mauro Manotas and Andrew Wenger for two spots in the attack.
In addition to the six goals by Torres, Alex also finds himself amongst the league leaders in assists as he’s tied for the league lead with Patrice Bernier with four.
New England (1-2-1) is coming off an encouraging result as they forced a 1-1 draw on the road in Portland. Lee Nguyen scored an equalizing goal in the 84th minute scoring off a rebound from a Kei Kamara shot.
The draw comes on the heels of a 5-2 win over Minnesota United FC in their last match, two weeks prior. The Revs have back-to-back matches garnering points after losing their first two matches of the season.
On the season New England has scored seven goals on the year and possess one of the best attacking units in the MLS. Nguyen leads the team with three goals on the season, Juan Agudelo has scored twice while Kamara has been limited to just one.
