- The arrival of baseball into the sports mix is a blessing. This is football country, but people in the city of Houston seem excited to have a team playing with championship expectations.
- I have a new show homework assignment. I’m going to do what you’re not supposed to do during the baseball season, watch if with football goggles, I’m going to treat the day after every game like an Overreaction Monday and see how long I can last before it drives me crazy.
- A discussion about the Final 4 games over the weekend turned into Mike, Seth and me confessing to what makes us cry.
- Today we discussed Tracy McGrady being selected to the NBA Hall Of Fame. I didn’t think it was a strong take to thing that was a joke, but apparently it was.
Now here are a few things that didn’t make the show that are on my mind…
— The reason football is so popular in America is the magnitude and build up of each game. Yes, the game is exciting, but the magnitude is what makes it the most popular sport in America. If there were 162 football games per-season, or even 82, it wouldn’t be as popular as it is. Could you imagine if there were only 16 baseball games a season and teams played once a week? The build up, the hype, the intensity. It would be unreal.
Starting pitchers would start every game, there would be week-long build up and weekly NFL-like storylines, it would be insane. Obviously this is a hypothetical, but the point I’m trying to make is that football’s format is what makes it so popular.
— I felt like a kid last night when I saw the Hardy Boyz return during Wrestlemania 33. I don’t wrestling weekly like I did as a kid, but I enjoy going to the events and casually watching it from time to time. It’s one of those things that takes me back to my childhood and allows me to enjoy the innocence I felt growing up.
— Real Headline: Stolen jerseys returned to Brady
Is this the end of the play-by-play of this story or are they going to also give an update of where he displays them in his house?
— Today’s celebrity birthday whose party I would most like to attend: Eddie Murphy, who turns 56. Coming To America and Trading Places, two of my favorites, a total legend.
