Houston (CBS HOUSTON) – Tal’s hill is gone.
The Houston Astros new centerfield reinvention is finally complete.
Gone is the hill, the flagpole, and the 436′ centerfield wall. Now in its stead is a 409 centerfield and a whole bunch of new attractions.
The Astros along with moving the fence in added more fan friendly experiences to the ballpark. Shake Shack and Torchy’s Tacos are the two big national chains that will be at Minute Maid this season, along with a place buy some wine and cheese (fiveseven Market), yes seriously.
Along with so many new food choices this year, the Astros will also allow fans to shag batting practice.
Where the hill used to be will now be a field level suite “Lexus field suite” that can hold 100 people, and those people will be allowed to catch fly balls during batting practice.
The Astros may have lost one of the most unique features in all of baseball with Tal’s Hill, but they are hoping to gain a meeting spot for all fans, which is something they’ve been missing.
