Houston (CBS Houston) – After a weekend off for international break, the Dynamo return home to BBVA Compass stadium looking to regain their winning ways against the New York Red Bulls.
In their last match, the Dynamo dropped their first game in the 2017 season, losing at Portland 4-2. The Dynamo led 2-1 at the half before surrendering three second half goals.
At home the Dynamo are 2-0 on the season with wins against Seattle and Columbus, and have outscored opponents in those two matches, 5-1.
Erick Torres and Romell Quioto lead the Dynamo with three goals each through three matches on the seasons.
Quioto’s status for Saturday’s match is in question after hurting his shoulder in the Honduras matched against the U.S. men’s national team. The Dynamo also welcome back DaMarcus Beasley, Adolfo Machado, Alberth Elis and Boniek Garcia from international duty.
New York is in a familiar position as they enter Saturday’s match, as they are currently tied with Columbus for the top spot in the Eastern Conference with a 2-1-1 record. The Red Bulls have won the Eastern Conference title in both 2015 and 2016, while also winning the Supporters’ Shield in 2015.
Bradley Wright-Phillips and Sacha Klejstan are the stars for the Red Bulls. Wright-Phillips won the MLS Golden Boot in two of the last three years while Klejstan had 20 assists last year, which led the league.
Despite their scoring prowess, the Red Bulls have a share for the top spot in the Eastern Conference table despite scoring just four goals this season.
Last season the Dynamo fell to the Red Bulls, 4-3 in New York in what would be the first of six matches in a row without a win.
