Though there are several Molly’s Pubs around town as part of the 18-pub local chain, the downtown location is the most centrally located of them all. The Molly’s Pub chain began in 1982, and today the Houston-Galveston area has a dozen and a half pubs that serve Irish food and drinks. Like the other Molly’s Pub locations, the downtown venue on St. Patrick’s Day will feature green beer, Irish stew, shepherd’s pie, corned beef, dancers, bagpipers and more to make the holiday its greenest.

For over 50 years, Houstonians have been celebrating St. Patrick’s Day at Griff’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Festival, which is the largest in Texas. Each year, Griff’s hosts several events leading up to its festival on St. Patrick’s Day. These events include a beauty queen contest, parade, cook off, and more. Check out Griff’s Irish Pub’s St. Patrick’s Day page for more information on these and other events to celebrate the entire week before March 17. Whenever you visit Griff’s, be sure to try the 1/2-pound “World Famous” Griff’s burger. If you’re really hungry, opt for the double trouble, which is a Griff’s burger with a full pound of meat. These foods and great beers await you on March 17 at Griff’s.

St. Patrick’s Day is the only day when The Harp ever charges a cover fee, but you will find few places on St. Patrick’s Day that don’t charge a cover. Last year, The Harp had a parking lot party that featured a stage with two bands, bagpipers and dancers. Food and drinks included Irish favorites such as Guinness sausage and Irish stew. This year could top last year’s entertainment and fun. For updates on the St. Patrick’s Day party and other events at The Harp, check out its Facebook page.
