HOUSTON (CBS HOUSTON) – AJ Bouye’s agent informed the Houston Texans on Thursday morning that his client would not be returning to the team and would be signing elsewhere in free agency. The “elsewhere” as expected was inside the AFC South as Bouye has agreed to terms on a contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The deal is reported to pay Bouye $67 million over five years with $26.5 million fully guaranteed.
The Texans reportedly made an offer in the area of $12 million per season. The Titans and Bears also reportedly made offers to Bouye.
The Texans elected not to place the franchise tag on Bouye last week and forfeit their right to negotiate exclusively with their breakout defensive star of 2016.
