Houston (CBS HOUSTON) – The Houston Texans have signed veteran free agent punter Shane Lechler and placekicker Nick Novak to contracts for 2017 according to multiple reports.
Lechler will continue to punt for the Texans at age 41, his 17th year in the NFL. Lechler averaged 47.5 yards a punt in 2016 in his fourth season with the Texans. He punted the fewest amount of times this past year with just 72 punts.
Novak led the team in scoring and broke Houston Texans records for most FGs in a season with 35 of 41 attempts made. Novak will be 36 for the 2017 season.
