HOUSTON (CBS HOUSTON) – Rockets guard Eric Gordon returned to the practice floor at Toyota Center on Tuesday after missing the last two games with an injured back.
The Rockets play their final game before the week long NBA All-Star Break on Wednesday against the Miami Heat. Gordon was taking Tuesday to test out his back to see if he can play against Miami.
“I just feel like this is a good time to just to try (my back) out and if I feel great during practice, and hopefully I should, I’m gonna play tomorrow,” Gordon told reporters in a practice media session.
Gordon is having one of the best seasons of his career with the Rockets. He’s already made 181 three-pointers, 40 more than in any other complete season of his career.
Gordon has missed time earlier in the season with a back injury and has had a history of injuries throughout his NBA career. He doesn’t expect the tightness in his back to be much of an issue.
“Everything is headed in the right direction, It’s fine,” Gordon added. “I’ve dealt with this before but it’s something to not really worry about at all.”
Gordon will be participating in the Three-point shooting contest on Saturday and doesn’t expect the injury to keep him out.
Forward Ryan Anderson was also practicing on Tuesday and taking shots. Anderson cut his thumb on his shooting hand at his home on Sunday on a piece of glass and would not have practiced on Monday.
