For years the main face of the Olympics on NBC has been, veteran broadcaster, Bob Costas. Now the 64-year-old is stepping aside and handing the reigns to Mike Tirico NBC announced on Twitter Thursday.
Tirico joined NBC Sports in 2016 after a long stint with ESPN. He was tapped as the successor for Al Michaels on Sunday Night Football but has first taken over the head duties on one of NBC’s biggest ventures every two years.
Wednesday marked the one year to kickoff of the Pyeongchang, South Korea Winter Olympics in 2018.
