HOUSTON (CBS HOUSTON) – Terry Bradshaw is a four-time Super Bowl winner and a Pro Football Hall of Famer. If you ask most NFL fans today, they will recognize him more from his work as an analyst on FOX NFL Sunday.
FOX will broadcast Super Bowl 51 from NRG Stadium in Houston on Sunday, it will be Bradshaw’s eighth as a member of the FOX pre-game show team.
Bradshaw, along with the rest of FOX’s talent crew, met with the media on Tuesday and he spoke on a variety of different topics including the Texans quarterback situation. He also shared an interesting story from his playing days.
“Bum Phillips gave me a pair of cowboy boots before the AFC Championship game When he said we’re going to knock the door down.”
Bradshaw said Phillips, who was coaching the Oilers in their second consecutive AFC title game against the Steelers in 1980, asked the equipment manager to summon Bradshaw to his office in the stadium
“I went down to (the Oiler)locker room before we played them in the championship game and he said ‘hey I got this for you’..It was a pair of powder blue, Oiler colored cowboy boots. I still have them. Beautiful. They’re ostrich!”
Bradshaw’s Steelers beat the Oilers 27-13 in the title game for the second consecutive year and won Super Bowl XIV over the Rams.
Bradshaw asked if the Phillips gift ever made it onto his feet and responded in a classic Terry Bradshaw way.
“Did I wear them? No.. powder blue,” Bradshaw said laughing. “I don’t wear powder blue.”
