Houston (CBS HOUSTON) – Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner made his opening remarks to the press Monday. He was most proud of what the City of Houston has to offer to everyone visiting. More importantly, the city is more prepared than previous years to host an event like the Super Bowl.
“We are ready to just put forth our very best for the NFL and for all of the people who will be coming from literally around the globe to be right here in the city of Houston,” Mayor Turner said. “This city is so different than 2004… The city is more transformed today than it has ever been”
Mayor Turner was also excited for people to embrace the southern hospitality and diversity.
“With more than 10,000 restaurants in this city, if you come here and can’t find what you like, i just don’t know what to tell you… This is a cosmopolitan city,” Mayor Turner said. “We are the most diverse city in the country and we are one big happy family with many different members.”
The mayor also wanted to remind everyone that the Super Bowl App is available for Android and Apple users and is very helpful to everyone. This has schedules and parking location help. Also, the metro rail is free through Wednesday to help accommodate all the people moving throughout the city.
Above all, Mayor Turner didn’t forget to thank all the people the made it happen. There were many moving parts that made the Super Bowl come together again in Houston. Sylvester is ready for some football.
