NFL Says They Want The Roof Open At NRG For Super Bowl LI

Houston (CBS HOUSTON) – The NFL told reporters on Tuesday that they plan on opening the roof for Super Bowl LI at NRG Stadium on February 5th.

The decision will be made according to weather that day and will be made right before kickoff.  It takes 10 minutes for the roof at NRG to open completely.

The Houston Texans did not play with the roof open all of the 2016 season.  It is a rarity for the roof to open at NRG for a Texans game. The typical rules are that the temperature is below 78 degrees and above 65 degrees and no chance for rain.

We are too far out from Super Bowl Sunday to know what the weather is supposed to be for kickoff, but the NFL wants the roof open at NRG Stadium.
