Houston (CBS HOUSTON) – The Houston Texans defense has been extremely impressive in 2016 (and 2017 so far). They are the number one defense in the league and while a lot of the credit goes to defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel, his assistant coaches are the ones working with their positions and getting these guys ready every week.

The Los Angeles Rams are taking notice, specifically of Mike Vrabel, the Texans linebackers coach. A report from SportsRadio 610’s John McClain says the Rams will interview Vrabel for their vacant head coaching position.

Vrabel, in his third year with the Texans, interviewed for the 49ers defensive coordinator position last year, before getting a raise by the Texans and staying in Houston.

The last position coach to make the jump to head coach, was the 49ers Jim Tomsula, who went from defensive line coach to head coach, where he lasted one year.
