Houston (CBS HOUSTON) – The Houston Texans this Sunday will not see Derek Carr or Matt McGloin, instead, the Oakland Raiders are forced to turn to third-string rookie Connor Cook.
The NFL film on Cook will be very limited, his only action this season came during the final week of the season against the Deven Broncos. Cook came in during the tail end of the second quarter after McGloin was injured.
Even though the tape on Cook is limited and he’s just a third-string quarterback, the Texans know they have to take him seriously.
“Any given day if you’re not on your technique, if you’re not being sound, if you’re not disciplined, you can get lit up by anybody,” Quintin Demps said. “We got to come with the same approach that we would Tom Brady, come locked in and come ready to go.”
Head coach Bill O’Brien Wednesday mentioned that they are looking through not only Cook’s game against the Broncos but also what he did during the preseason as well as his time while at Michigan State.
“You really can’t leave any stone unturned when it’s this time of the year,” Bill O’Brien said. “At the end of the day, it’s really studying the Raiders offense and what they do and how they are going to do it with Connor back there.”
The Raiders may have the advantage because no one really knows much about Cook, but they still have to figure out how he is going to be able to beat the number one defense in the NFL.
