O’Brien: Brock Osweiler Is Our Starting Quarterback

Houston (CBS HOUSTON) – Bill O’Brien told the media today that Brock Osweiler will start for the Houston Texans on Saturday in the team’s Playoff matchup against the Oakland Raiders.

Osweiler was benched in week 15 for Tom Savage but returned to the field after Savage got a concussion in week 17.

Osweiler went 8-6 as the quarterback for the Texans, throwing 14 touchdowns to 16 interceptions before his benching. In week 17 he threw for 240-yard a touchdown and ran for a score as well coming in for Savage.

Savage was initially ruled to not have a concussion during Sunday’s season finale but after a second evaluation was ruled out and placed into the NFL’s concussion protocol.

The Raiders will be starting rookie quarterback Connor Cook after MVP candidate Derek Carr and backup quarterback Matt McGloin both were injured in the final weeks of the season.
