Houston (CBS HOUSTON) – Fourth-year cornerback, A.J. Bouye is in the middle of a breakout season. He’s been one of the most consistent cover corners not only on the Texans but in the NFL.
Pro football focus rated Bouye as one of the 10 best corners in the NFL, ahead of big names like Josh Norman, Marcus Peters and Richard Sherman.
Without hesitation, Texans Johnathan Joseph agreed that Bouye has been one of the better corners in the NFL this season.
Unfortunately when pro-bowl starters and alternates were named, Bouye was left off the list.
While he probably should have made it, Joseph shared that Bouye has played very well and the NFL is taking notice.
“I think A.J. has definitely played that way this year,” Joseph said. “He has attention of other people, just look at the game plan and the way they try to attack him and you can see the respect there.”
While the young corner has done enough to make the pro-bowl, Joseph told him that snubs happen to everyone.
“I was just telling those guys, I had my best season back in 2009 and I didn’t get any attention for it, didn’t earn a pro-bowl berth and that’s just part of it,” Joseph said.
Bouye has succeeded with everything the Texans have asked him to do this year, be it covering and limiting much bigger tight ends to stopping top wide receivers.
He may not have gotten a pro-bowl nod, but he’s been a big reason the Texans have the number one defense in the NFL.
