HOUSTON (CBS HOUSTON) – The Houston Dynamo selected D Dylan Remick in the first stage of the Major League Soccer Re-Entry Draft, the club announced Friday.
Remick has played in 44 career games, all with the MLS Cup Champion Seattle Sounders FC. The 25-year-old saw action in 11 games in 2016, including two of the three matchups between Seattle and the Dynamo this year.
Naturally left-footed, Remick switched from center back to left back at Brown University. He was a state-level sprinter in high school in Illinois in addition to his exploits on the pitch. He joined MLS as a second-round pick (35th overall) by Seattle in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft.
To be eligible for selection in the Re-Entry Draft, a player must either be out of contract or had his contract option declined and either be at least 23 years old with a minimum of three years of MLS experience or at least 25 with a minimum of four years of league experience. Players who are eligible for free agency are not included in the Re-Entry Draft.
The Dynamo look to retool their roster after finishing last in the Western Conference in 2016.
