Houston (CBS HOUSTON) – In the span of just 24 hours Houston Texans outside linebacker Whitney Mercilus has gone from limited in practice to now not practicing.
A back injury kept Mercilus from being a full participant on Wednesday, on Thursday his back would keep him out of practice altogether.
It’s not known the severity of Mercilus’ back injury, it could be as simple as just head coach Bill O’Brien giving him time to rest up.
Friday if Mercilus is still not practicing O’Brien will likely share some sort of update.
If Mercilus for some reason can’t go this Sunday, the team did get back some linebacker depth Thursday.
Undrafted rookie outside linebacker Brennan Scarlett returned to practice for the first time since going on injured reserved in mid-October.
Scarlett is eligible for a return.
