Penalties Help to Derail Texans

HOUSTON (CBS HOUSTON) – The Texans prior to their game against the Raiders were the least peanlized team in football. Since then, they have played like anything but that.

Houston has 16 penalties for 159 yards in the past two games including repeated failures to stay onsides early against the Chargers.

Jadeveon Clowney was the victim of the yellow laundry on multiple occasions and said the team knew this was a crew who called a tight game at the line of scrimmage. He mentioned this was the same officiating bunch who dinged them for neutral zone infractions and offsides in the Vikings game.

When asked if he was concerned about the penalties Clowney simply said “no.”

Eddie Pleasant agreed the officiating crew called a tight game but wouldn’t blame them.

“At the end of the day you can’t put it on the officials, you know what I mean? We left some plays out there that we know we could have capitalised on and we just have to come back and do better next time.”

“That’s the way it is,” said veteran Johnathan Joseph. “You have to play the game however it’s being officiated.”

Joseph mentioned they couldn’t let some of the questionable change their approach saying they need to keep playing “our type of ball.”

The game wasn’t exactly clean for the Chargers either. San Diego saw ten penalties called against them.
