Houston (CBS HOUSTON) – The Houston Texans passing game might be up and down this season, but the running game over the past few games has been one of the team’s most consistent units.
In the past five games, the Texans have rushed for at least 100 yards, and in three of those games they’ve totaled 140 yards or more on the ground.
“Obviously the offensive line has really done a good job,” Bill O’Brien said when asked how the running game has become a strength on the team.
Lamar Miller has played in each game of the past five games, but he’s only actually been able to total 100 yards or more only twice. The Texans have actually had a few different backs in the backfield over the past few weeks due to injuries, and no matter who you put in, each has done a good job.
While it’s a credit that each back has been able to pile up yards, the real credit should go to the offensive line for opening holes that didn’t seem to be their earlier in the year.
Guard Jeff Allen Wednesday shared he was very happy with the lines chemistry of late. Mentioning that the five guys don’t need to communicate as much because each guy knows what they need to do.
The strength of the team may be the run game but the leader of that unit is the way the offensive line has been able to shine.
