Houston (CBS HOUSTON) – Akeem Hunt in his first taste of action this season against the Jacksonville Jaguars put on a show. With just eight carries he was able to rack up 52 yards rushing yards.

Even though he was a late add to the game day roster, Bill O’Brien said Thursday that he wasn’t surprised or shocked at all by the impact Hunt was able to have.

Hunt’s Sunday could have been even better, a holding call ended up taking a 33-yard run off the board. Had the run of counted he could have finished with almost as many yards as starting running back Lamar Miller.

With his good play on Sunday and Jonathan Grimes still out with an illness, Hunt might have earned himself some regular playing time.

“As far as how many more snaps he’ll get and things like that,” O’Brien said. “I think that’s all dictated by how we approach this game, how we’re going to try to attack the Raiders. He’ll be in the game plan.”

Earning the trust of the head coach goes a long way and O’Brien has been happy with the way Hunt has gone about his job, even while he was just on the practice squad.

Hunt personally was a little disappointed he didn’t make the team straight out of training camp, but he used that as fuel to work that much harder to get noticed by coaches.

Now with the coaches full attention, Hunt is going to make the most of his opportunities.
