Houston (CBS HOUSTON) – Monday night the Houston Rockets easily took care business by beating the Philadelphia 76ers easily in a rout.
What remains for the Rockets the rest of the week are now three straight games against potential playoff teams when they take on the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Portland Trailblazers, and the Utah Jazz.
“Every game you play (has) playoff implications,” head coach Mike D’Antoni said. “I know it’s November but at the same time they’ll come back to haunt you in April or they’re your friend.”
It may be too soon to talk about playoffs, but against this type of teams you don’t want to let even one game slip away. Often times at the end of the season one game is what keeps teams from having home court advantage.
“We’re already looking back at some of the games we let slip away,” James Harden said. “We’re getting better game by game, defensively we’re getting a lot better and offensively obviously we’re getting better too.”
The defense which was very bad in the first week has taken a step up of late and it is about to get more of a boost with Partick Beverley expected to make his season debut on Thursday.
So with the offense seemingly clicking and the defense improving the team has a good chance at winning a few if not all of three games this week.
If they are able to handle this three-game stretch they sky could be the limit for how good the Rockets just might be this season.
