Houston (CBS HOUSTON) – This Sunday the Houston Texans will have a few things going against them.
1) They don’t play the NFC North but once every four years.
2) They are coming off a short week after playing in Denver on Monday night.
While they haven’t seen much over the years from Detriot Lions Matthew Stafford (if at all) the good news is they do face Indianapolis Colts’ quarterback Andrew Luck all the time.
The two are actually pretty similar: Big-armed and can make every throw on the field, they can also scramble out the pocket when a play breaks down and both have led their teams to come from behind wins.
“I can see that compassion,” Johnathan Joseph said about Luck and Stafford’s similarities.
With limited practices this week the Texans might be able to use some of the same knowledge they have on Luck and apply it to Stafford.
“We have to do kind of, sort of the same thing,” Jadeveon Clowney said facing Stafford and Luck. “Keep him in the pocket and try to win our one-on-ones, get pressure on him as much as possible so he can make some bad decisions with the ball, hopefully.”
Bill O’Brien’s Texans have never faced Stafford but their 4-0 home record this year does include an overtime win over his AFC doppelganger Luck.
