The Houston Super Bowl Host Committee will hold an orientation for its volunteers Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Toyota Center. It will be the only time all of the volunteers will gather together in one location at one time. The event will run from 9:45-11:45 a.m.

Of the nearly 10,000 people who were invited to attend the orientation, more than 8,000 are expected to attend the Saturday morning event, which will be hosted by KHOU’s Great Day Houston host, Deborah Duncan.

“Volunteers are a critical part of our plan to create an unparalleled Super Bowl experience for everyone who comes to celebrate with us,” Sallie Sargent, President and CEO of the Host Committee said. “Volunteers have the ability to make every visitor’s experience a great one. This orientation gives us the opportunity to provide the volunteers with the instruction on how to make that positive connection with people coming to enjoy the Super Bowl LI festivities.”

The Host Committee conducted more than 10,000 face-to-face interviews at its Volunteer Recruitment Center at GreenStreet from Aug. 22-Oct. 8. Interviews occurred six days a week, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. to create a roster of ambassadors who will play host to the thousands of visitors expected in Houston for Super Bowl LI.

“Houston is one of the BBVA Compass’ most important communities, and the bank wanted to step up as the volunteer program’s sponsor as the city gears up to host professional football’s biggest game.” said BBVA Compass Houston CEO Mark Montgomery. “This is one of the brightest spotlights in sports and these volunteers will help give visitors to our city an experience that will live bright in their memories.”

The Host Committee will deploy nearly 10,000 volunteers across the city in the days before Super Bowl LI, and will be stationed at airports, transportation hubs, hotels and gathering places, as well as Downtown and in Discovery Green where the Host Committee’s signature event, Super Bowl LIVE, will be held.

Doors for Volunteer Orientation will open at 8:45 at the LaBranch Street entrance. Orientation will end at 11:45. All volunteers must bring their orientation invitation to enter.
