Houston (CBS HOUSTON) – Before the Houston Rockets and New York Knicks faced off during their pre-season matchup on Tuesday night the players from the teams came together on the sideline to stand interlocked for the National Anthem.
The National Anthem has been a focus of the sports world since San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick started sitting and then kneeling during the playing of the song in protest of police brutality around America.
Kaepernick has seen other players in the league join in his protest, some deciding to stay standing but raising a fist in the air, like Houston Texans offensive lineman Duane Brown.
Other NBA teams also did similar gestures to show unity. The Boston Celtics even tweeting out a video with the players explaining why they were doing it.
It seems many NBA teams are deciding to join the solidarity stance during the National Anthem, and it will likely continue into the regular season.
