J.J. Watt Has Back Surgery; 2016 Season Over

Houston (CBS HOUSTON) – Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt is had his second back surgery in two-plus months according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Watt had surgery to repair a herniated disk in July just before training camp.  The surgery cost the 3-time defensive player of the year all of the preseason, but he was able to make it back for week 1’s game against the Chicago Bears.

At some point Watt re-injured the same disc in his back he had surgery on which caused the Texans to place him on IR on Wednesday.  Watt had only 8 tackles and 1.5 sacks in the young season. Watt had played in 83-straight games since being drafted 11th overall in 2011.
