UPDATE: J.J. Watt Re-Injures Back; To Go On IR

UPDATE (8:40pm): ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that J.J. Watt will go on the Injured Reserve on Wednesday and the team will resign Antonio Smith.

Houston (CBS HOUSTON) – The Houston Texans might find out what life without J.J. Watt is like for the first time in the 3-time Defensive Player of the Year’s career.

A report from NFL.com’s Ian Rapaport says that Watt re-injured the back he hurt during the 2015 season.

Watt had surgery on the back before training camp and missed the entire pre-season.

Watt had played in all 83 games in his career since being drafted 11th overall in 2011. He currently has 1.5 sacks and 1 tackle on the season in 2016.

He was given Monday off from practice after a long weekend following the 27-0 loss to the Patriots on Thursday Night. It was called a routine day off by the team.
