HOUSTON, TX (CBS HOUSTON) – The Houston Astros will open the 2017 season with a seven-game homestand, beginning on April 3 vs. the Seattle Mariners. The Astros will follow up their four-game set with the Mariners with a three-game series against the 2015 World Series Champion Kansas City Royals.
2017 will be the 41st time the Astros open a season at home and will be the first time that they will face Seattle in a season or home opener. Houston has won their last four season-opening games including this season’s 5-3 win over the Yankees.
Interleague Play will include matchups vs. all five NL East clubs, three of which will be at home. The 2015 NL Champion New York Mets will visit Minute Maid Park for a three-game series the weekend of Sept. 1-3, marking their first visit to Houston since 2012. The Astros will also host the Atlanta Braves (May 9-10) and Washington Nationals (Aug. 22-24) in 2017.
