UPDATE 2:10pm: Brian Cushing will not return to the game with a knee injury.
Houston (CBS HOUSTON) – The Houston Texans weren’t on the field for long when linebacker Brian Cushing had to leave with an apparent injury.
Cushing left the field during the Texans first defensive series and was getting treatment on his right leg. Shortly after the Bears scored the first points of the games on a Jeremy Langford touchdown run Cushing left the field to go to the Texans locker room.
Max Bullough took Cushing’s spot on the field for the next defensive series.
Cushing was declared questionable to return with a knee injury.
Post-game, his running mates said Cushing is their emotional leader and his presence will be missed.
“Cush is a great guy, and I love playing with him. Really aggressive player, flies to the ball and I’ve learned a lot from him,” linebacker Benardrick McKinney said.
Added LB John Simon: “We lost one of our best captains and the one I look up to the most and the one that the linebackers look up to the most. He’s a great player.
“We have a lot of faith in Max, though, and he went out in the second half and played a really nice game.”
