HOUSTON (CBS HOUSTON) – Texans rookie tight end Stephen Anderson made his professional debut Sunday with three catches for 25 yards, but he wasn’t the lone Texans player making his debut.
Quarterback Brock Osweiler impressed in his debut in Liberty White and Deep Steel Blue.
“He did great,” Anderson said about his quarterback. “He just handled the situation.”
The rookie pass catcher said if he didn’t know better, he would never guess this was just Osweiler’s eighth NFL start and first with the Texans.
“Even when I came here, the first day if I didn’t know he came from Denver then you’d think that he was here for like eight years. He’s very comfortable with the offense. Explains it well to us and you know just helps the whole offense out.”
The comfort for the new quarterback led to a performance with 22 of 35 passing for 231 yards and two touchdowns to go along with one interception.
Anderson, Osweiler, and the Texans host the Chiefs next weekend.
