Late Heroics Lead To 3-3 Draw Against Sporting KC

Houston (CBS Houston) – Raul Rodriguez’s header off a Boniek Garcia set piece with just moments remaining lifts the Dynamo to a 3-3 draw against Sporting Kansas City.

With the draw the Dynamo are now unbeaten in their last six on the road against Sporting Kansas City with a 3-0-3 record.

Jacob Peterson would blast in the game’s first goal after a couple of initial saves by Joe Willis to put Sporting Kansas City ahead, 1-0 in the 13th minute.

Sporting Kansas City would extend their lead to two in the 26th minute when Roger Espinoza was able to score from distance after intercepting an errant Collen Warner pass.

Mauro Manotas would trim the lead to one when he scored his first MLS goal in the 30th minute after a pass from Boniek Garcia.

Alex would score an equalizing goal in the 59th minute to push the score to 2-2.

After a few more Dynamo opportunities that they couldn’t convert into goals, Dom Dwyer would score in the 81st minute to put Sporting Kansas City ahead.

With just seconds remaining before the final whistle, Garcia delivered a perfect pass off a free kick that found Rodriguez streaking to the goal and was able to get past Alec Kann for the 3-3 draw.

Friday’s match saw the return of DaMarcus Beasley who has been recovering from mid-season knee surgery.

Now the Dynamo get set for a road match against Real Salt Lake next Saturday.
