Houston (CBS Houston) – After a week off of MLS competition, the Dynamo return to the pitch for the first time in September as they face Sporting Kansas City.
The Dynamo (5-11-10, 25 points) are currently in last place in the Western Conference, and are winless in their last two after a 2-1 win at San Jose.
The victory at San Jose was the only road win of the season for the Dynamo, and come into Friday’s road match with a 1-9-3 record away from BBVA Compass Stadium.
Andrew Wenger paces the Dynamo with five goals this season while Boniek Garcia leads the team with six assists.
Sporting Kansas City (11-12-5, 38 points) currently sits in fifth place in the Western Conference, but just six points ahead of San Jose and seven points ahead of Seattle, who both have played two less matches.
Friday’s match against the Dynamo will be the first match for Sporting Kansas City since losing 2-0 at Philadelphia Aug 27.
With 12 goals on the season Dominic Dwyer leads Sporting Kansas City in that category.
The two teams met on May 27 when the Dynamo shutout Sporting Kansas City, 2-0 with goals from Giles Barnes and Andrew Wenger. The Dynamo also beat SKC, 3-1 in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on June 29 thanks to a brace from Mauro Manotas.
In Kansas City, the Dynamo are unbeaten in their last five with three wins in those five matches.
