CBS Houston – Saturday the Houston Texans had to make some tough cuts in order to get down to the final 53 man roster. On Sunday some of those cuts were able to make their way back on the team.
The Texans announced that running back Akeem Hunt, wide receiver Quenton Bundrage, outside linebacker Eric Lee, cornerback Robert Nelson, defensive end Ufomba Kamalu, inside linebacker Shakeel Rashad, tight end Eric Tomlinson, and guard Chad Slade all will be joining the practice squad.
Hunt was one of the more surprising Texans cuts, he showcased big time playmaking ability during training camp and in preseason games. He was able to score three touchdowns during the preseason, including two in the final game against the Dallas Cowboys. He wasn’t able to stick on to the 53 man roster but now back with the team, there is still a chance he could be called upon sometime during the season.
Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle is reporting the team has agreed to bring in Joseph Cheek an undrafted rookie offensive lineman. Cheek most recently was in camp with the New Orleans Saints and played college football for the Texas A&M Aggies.
The Texans still have one spot remaining open on their practice squad.
