UPDATE: The Texans officially moved Brown and J.J. Watt to the Active Roster from the pre-season PUP list

Houston (CBS HOUSTON) – It is not a sure sign that Duane Brown will play in week 1 against the Chicago Bears, but it does indicate that the Houston Texans think their Pro Bowl left tackle will be healthy soon.  SportsRadio 610’s John McClain is reporting the Texans are not expecting to put Brown on the physically unable to perform list.

If Brown was put on the PUP list he wouldn’t be able to play again this season until week 7.  Because he’s staying on the active roster the Texans think he’ll be ready sooner than later.

Chris Clark is likely to start in Brown’s spot on the left side of the offensive line until Brown is fully healthy.

Brown tore his quadriceps muscle in the final game of the 2015 regular season.
