Houston (CBS HOUSTON) – The Houston Texans will have to wait until 2017 for the chance to see if second round pick Nick Martin is everything they hoped at center. After the former Notre Dame offensive lineman had surgery on his ankle the Texans have elected to place him on the injured reserve list, according to multiple reports.
Martin was slated to start for the Texans at center this season as a rookie. With Martin out, Greg Mancz will see most of the playing time in the middle of the line.
The Texans also reportedly added Safety Kurtis Drummond and rookie kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn to the IR as well. Safety Lonnie Balentine was placed on the physically unable to perform list.
The Texans have until 3pm Tuesday to cut their roster to 75 players. Get the full list of reported cuts here.
