Houston (CBS HOUSTON) – The Houston Texans second round draft pick and starting center Nick Martin underwent ankle surgery and could miss the entire season, NFL.com’s Ian Rappaport is reporting.

The rookie from Notre Dame was dubbed the starter at center for the Texans immediately when training camp started but missed time with back pain before hurting his ankle during a joint practice with the New Orleans Saints.

Martin took over for Ben Jones who signed as a free agent with the Tennessee Titans this offseason. Tony Bergstrom or Greg Mancz are the players on the Texans roster who could replace Martin.
