Houston (CBS HOUSTON) – The Houston Texans could be out as long as four weeks of the regular season, according to some reports. It has also been reported the Texans are leaning towards him being out the first two weeks of the season. Watt had back surgery just before training camp and hasn’t been on the field to practice with his team yet. But the three-time defensive player of the year seems to be feeling good.
He took to twitter on Wednesday night to project his return.
We don’t know how soon, “soon” is, but the Texans and Watt have both said they will abide by everything the doctors tell them he can and can’t do as he tries to get back.
Ian Rapoport reported on Thursday Watt expects to practice next week.
ESPN’s Ed Werder has a contradicting report about an hour after Rapoport.
We do know he can do some workouts. He accepted the #22PushupChallege from the Rock a few weeks ago. That is the only evidence of what J.J. has been cleared to do.
My guy & #DLineBrother @justinjames99 is a beast recovering from back surgery and still crushed his #22PushUpsChallenge. He "walks the walk" and cares deeply about our US vets. We can't wait to get you back on the field brother. Though rival QB's are like "Nah we're good. Stay gone JJ". #22PushupsChallenge #HuntGreatness 🇺🇸
We know the wait is hard, but Texans fans will just have to wait for “soon” to get here.
