CBS Houston – Houston Astros prospect Danry Vasquez has been on administrative leave for the last few weeks while he has been dealing with an assault charge.
Wednesday major league baseball suspended Vasquez indefinitely and the Astros wasted no time announcing they had released the 22-year-old.
“We appreciate the ruling today as it supports our firm intention to terminate Danry’s association with our club,” the Astros said in a statement, “We will continue to cooperate with Corpus Christi PD as they complete their investigation.”
Vasquez earlier in the month was caught on video surveillance at Whataburger Field the home of the Corpus Christi Hooks the Astros double-A affiliate, striking his girlfriend multiple times causing her to fall down a stairwell.
A few days before the incident at Whataburger field, Vasquez was involved in a massive brawl after he was hit by a pitch.
The Astros acquired Vasquez in a trade that sent Jose Veras to the Detroit Tigers back in 2013.
