Houston just got its first look at Minute Maid Park, post-Tal’s Hill.
The Houston Astros have released concept art for the long-awaited renovation project, which includes lowering the playing surface in center field and building additional seating, concessions and amenities for fans.
Ground breaking is set for immediately after the 2016 season, whenever that may be. Construction was initially scheduled for the end of the 2015 campaign, but had to be pushed back following the Astros surprise American League playoff berth.
“We are very pleased to be moving forward with our plans to renovate the center field area of our ballpark and continue to improve the fan experience,” president of business operations Reid Ryan said in a statement. “This project is our latest effort to make Minute Maid Park one of the most modern and comfortable venues in Houston.”
