Simone Biles & US Women’s Gymnastics Take Home Gold

Rio De Janeiro (CBS HOUSTON) – Spring’s own Simone Biles led the women’s gymnastics team to a gold medal in the team event on Tuesday Night.

Leading from start to finish the Aly Raisman, Gabby Douglas, Madison Kocian, Laurie Hernandez and Biles dominated the entire night, never faltering once under immense pressure to succeed.

They finished with a team total of 8.209 points, a new record under the scoring system that was enacted prior to the 2006 games.

Russia finished in second place, followed by China in third. Russia scored it’s second consecutive silver, while China landed on the podium for the first time since winning gold at their home Olympics in Beijing.
