Houston (CBS HOUSTON) – Houston Texans defensive lineman J.J. Watt has undergone back surgery according to SportsRadio 610’s John McClain.
The three-time defensive player of the year will start training camp on the physically unable to perform list, McClain says he should start the season healthy.
Watt spent the early part of the offseason rehabbing from multiple groin tears and surgery on his groin that caused him to leave the Texans 30-0 playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs early.
NFL.com’s Ian Rappaport is reporting that the surgery happened on Wednesday and Watt is still in the hospital.
No word yet on why exactly Watt had the surgery.
