HOUSTON (CBS HOUSTON) – The Texans are still waiting to see if a foot injury will sideline Jadeveon Clowney for Saturday’s playoff game against the Chiefs.
Texans head coach Bill O’Brien said he is moving around well but is still day-to-day.
Clowney, who missed the season finale with the foot injury, did not practice on Wednesday.
If he can’t play the Texans haven’t had a tremendous drop in production on the defense with him missing.
In Clowney’s absence, Whitney Mercilus had another tremendous day on Sunday totaling 3.5 sacks.
10 of the 12 sacks this season by Mercilus have come in games where Clowney has either missed the entire game or missed snaps due to injury.
Texans owner Bob McNair was quick to point out their defense would get even better when Clowney returns for the playoff game after Sunday’s regular season finale.
