HOUSTON (CBS HOUSTON) – The Texans will likely have two of their star defenders on Sunday, but their starting quarterback will not play as they all missed practice today.
J.J. Watt didn’t practice as he deals with his broken left hand. Brian Cushing is dealing with what Bill O’Brien termed a “lower extremity” issue earlier in the week but deemed general wear and tear Wednesday.
J.J. Watt knows as his health improves so will his usefulness with his hand.
“It’ll be fine as it continues to heal. The more it heals the more I will be able to use it.”
Colts head coach Chuck Pagano said he doesn’t see much of a change with Watt using the club.
“The guy is still wrecking games and affecting games and causing people a lot of problems,” he said.
No change in the approach against Watt.
“We will not treat J.J. any different than we have treated him in the past. He will garner all the attention that he deserves.”
O’Brien expects both Watt and Cushing to play Sunday.
Brian Hoyer is in the team’s concussion protocol and will not play this weekend per O’Brien.
“Not to speak for him but, I think he is feeling better. He would be doubtful. He’s not going to play on Sunday.”
