Houston (CBS HOUSTON) – The Houston Cougars won the first-ever American Athletic Conference Championship game on Saturday. After the game, some fans tried to join the celebration on the field when security guards were seen tackling, punching and holding down fans. The security guards are employees of Contemporary Services Corporation, the company Houston contracts for security for it’s sporting events
Cougars athletic director Hunter Yurachek told ESPN that he was “extremely disappointed and angered” by the actions of some of the security guards employed by CSC.
“We are working with the University of Houston police to review today’s activities and will take swift and appropriate action including the termination of our current contract with CSC and any legal action deemed necessary,” Yurachek said.
On it’s website CSC said it was looking into what happened.
“Training is provided to CSC employees for responding to such situations,” the company said. “Any actions by CSC personnel that contradict our training, CSC’s other requirements, or the law, are not condoned by CSC and will not be tolerated. We are currently performing an investigation of the events and will take appropriate action based on the outcome of our investigation.”
