HOUSTON (CBS Houston) – The Force is strong with Daniel Fleetwood.
The terminally ill cancer patient is a life-long Star Wars fan. He feared he would not live long enough to see the latest chapter in the movie saga
“Judging by how progressive the disease has gotten in the past two months,” Daniel told KPRC-TV. “I really don’t think that I’ll be able to make it.”
His plea went viral, with several stars of the upcoming film even jumping on the bandwagon.
Fleetwood got his wish, announced his wife Ashley in a Facebook post.
“Today the wonderful Disney and Lucasfilms made his final dream come true, in the amazing typical Disney way, they really do make dreams come true!” she wrote.
He was given a private screening at his home in Spring.
“Daniel just finished watching an unedited version of Star Wars: The Force Awakens!!!” wrote Ashley. “We would like to thank the awesomely talented JJ Abrams for calling us yesterday to tell us Daniel was getting his wish granted!”
“Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens” will be released in theaters on December 18th.
