HOUSTON (CBS Houston) – A 5-year-old girl was locked in a washing machine at a Texas laundromat, reports KHOU-TV.

“She was tumbling pretty fast in there,” Pasadena police spokesman Vance Mitchell told the station.

The washing machine was on high speed. The girl was trapped inside for several minutes, say police.

“One person walked by and said they saw something flopping around in there,” said Mitchell.  “They thought it was just a dress or something because it was moving pretty fast.”

It’s not clear exactly what happened. A woman reportedly tried to use the same machine just minutes before the girl got inside, but told the manager the machine was not working.

The girl was airlifted to a nearby hospital. There is no word on her condition.

Police also have not identified the girl’s parents or said who was watching her at the time.
